Woodie Luna Smart Lamp

Integrating Technology and Design

Woodie Milano's Luna Smart Lamp combines wireless charging, cutting-edge technology, and Italian design to create a unique and useful product. Inspired by user needs, Luna integrates a wireless charger and a lamp into one device. But it doesn't stop there - Luna also features Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant, taking the lamp to a whole new level.

Luna Smart Lamp is the first lamp to integrate Amazon Alexa voice services and Qi Wireless Charging. It is a fresh take on the classical lamp, incorporating new layers of technology such as light, music, wireless charging, and Alexa functionality. With Alexa built-in, Luna is a future-proof product that constantly updates and learns our habits and tastes. Alexa's skills give Luna the potential for hundreds of new functions every day.

The design of Luna was realized using parametric software, allowing for the shaping of the product as it was being crafted. Blow molding injection was used to create a seamless diffuser surface. The LED light is conveyed through a PMMA cylinder, providing a perfect and smooth illumination. Woodie Milano partnered with Amazon's official system integrator to develop specific hardware solutions that would fit the design needs.

Technical specifications of Luna include a 126mm diffuser diameter, 96mm base diameter, and 78mm height. It weighs 1kg and features white ABS V0 plastic parts, a polycarbonate light diffuser, and a bottom silicon pad. Luna is equipped with two far-field voice recognition microphones, allowing for voice control up to 6 meters away. It also has a 7W speaker with 360° diffusion and a 10W Qi fast wireless charger.

To set up Luna, simply download the Luna App, plug in the lamp, and connect it to Wi-Fi via the app. Once connected, you can start talking to Alexa by logging in to your Amazon account. Luna can be controlled using your voice for light and volume settings. Alternatively, you can place your smartphone on top of Luna or plug it into the USB-C port for charging. The lamp also features capacitive touch buttons for adjusting light intensity and volume.

The Luna Smart Lamp project started in 2017 in Milan and has gone through extensive research, development, licensing, prototyping, and iteration stages. The working prototype was exhibited at CES 2019 in Las Vegas and Maison & Objet 2019 in Paris. The project is set to launch with a crowdfunding campaign in May 2019.

Woodie Milano's Luna Smart Lamp has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2019. This award acknowledges Luna's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
